The area of Warnervale was named after Albert Hamlyn Warner. The road that Strathavon is located on is named Boyce Avenue after Albert’s wife, Mary Ann Boyce.

Some of the features of the building are a ballroom that had its ceiling and tradesmen imported from Italy, Belvedere that is accessed from the main entry via a cast iron spiral stairs that was constructed by Fletcher & Sons, Oxford Street Sydney.

The grounds and buildings were thought to be influenced by Japanese art and architecture from Warner’s visits to Hakone in Japan and can still be seen in many of the properties aspects today.

The property was later operated as a guest house with recreational themes named ‘Strathavon Country Club’ and was a popular honeymoon destination.

Strathavon has great significance to the local area for its association with the Warner family that shows the scale of accumulated wealth of the pioneering businessman in the local area around the start of the 20th century. The property is heritage listed.
